MPC - Competition 2nd Grade (2026) - Fall 2026

Open to all 1st and 2nd graders (as of Fall 2026 school grade). No try-outs or prior cheer experience required; everyone is welcome!


  • Register by May 1st and benefit from the early bird special registration fee of $325.
  • Additional fees apply for Uniform (as needed), Competitions, and Shoes.
  • Summer Practice Schedule - Summer practices will begin the week of June 15th and go through the week of August 10th; They will be every Monday from 5:00pm-6:00pm.

  • Fall Practice Schedule - Regular fall practices will begin the week of Aug. 17th. Practice is 2x/week on Sunday and Thursday evenings. More details will be available after registration closes. 

Fees cover items such as choreography, practice space, practice shirt, comp bow, junior coaches, Cheer Off! Showcase, banquet, insurance.

  • When will Comp. Cheer practice start?: Summer practices will be the week of June 15, 2026 through the week of August 10, 2026. Mandatory team practices begin the week of August 1, 2026.
  • When and where will practice be?: Practice could be any 2-day combination of one weekend day and one weeknight. Practices will be at TGS. More to follow.
  • How long is team practice?: TBD - Historically team practice has been 1.5 - 2.0 hr./2x a week for the younger grades (i.e., 1st, 2nd) and 2.0 - 2.5 hr./2x a week for the older grades.
  • Are there extra practices?: Yes! The week of a competition there is an added Friday night practice at TGS. Time to be provided. Further details once registration closes.
  • Are there specific choreography dates?: Yes! Choreography will be the weekend of August 1st and 2nd as well as the following weekend of August 8th and 9th. These will be *extended* practices along with the regular weekday practices. Attendance is mandatory.
  • What is the attendance policy?: Starting Aug 1st attendance is mandatory, 3 excused absences for the season: no absences week of competitions or the 3 practices leading up to the comp day.
  • ICA competitions, how many and when?: Three plus ICA State if bid won. Exact date/time TBD. Once we know our comp. dates, we will update all.
  • Do I need special shoes for competition?: Yes. Each athlete must purchase the same shoe to be worn at practices and for competitions. DO NOT purchase shoes until MP Cheer provides more details in August. Est. cost $70.
  • Do I have to fundraise?: Yes, fundraising will be required. Buyout option available. There is an opt-out fee if you choose to not fundraise. More details to be provided by MP Cheer.
  • Are there any other costs/fees?: Misc. gifting options, such as Team Managers planning "swag" bags and pin decorating for the athletes prior to a competition, coach & athlete gifts at Cheer Off!.
  • Is there a uniform fitting event?: Yes. Each athlete must attend one fitting date. Returning athletes with uniforms that still fit are required to attend for size/fit assessment. Fitting date detail to be provided at a later date.
  • Do businesses sponsor MP Cheer?: YES they do! Have a business or know of someone who does and is interested in helping our kids this season :) please let us know at gompcc@yahoo.com. For $100 your name and logo is included on the back of the MPC practice shirts. Thank you!
