CHEER CLINIC/ PICNIC - Responsible for planning, securing location, flyer or invitation, tracking responses, food served, give away item, recruiting coaches, and facilitating the event.
PICTURE DAY COMMITTEE - Responsible for working with photographer to set-up picture day, organizing times for all squads, securing location, notifying coaches and team moms, distributing order forms, and supervising during photo shoot.
PARADE COMMITTEE – Responsible for organizing both the July 4th parade and the Winter parade, signing-up MPCC with village, securing spots in parades, flyers advertising parades, notifying coaches and team moms, deciding on themes and attire, marching in and supervising cheerleaders during parades.
CHEER-OFF COMMITTEE – Responsible for planning, securing location, flyer or invitation, organizing performance times, obtaining music from each squad, communicating with janitorial staff about set-up, delegating jobs to board members, marking areas for each squad to sit during performances.
YEAR-END BANQUET COMMITTEE – Responsible for obtaining quotes from different banquet halls, location and menu selection, invitations, tracking responses, seating arrangement, decorations, communicating with banquet hall staff, getting trophies.
Regular Cheer Definitions
Chant: A short, simple yell, usually with movements and repeated 3 times. Usually done on the sidelines.
Cheer: A longer yell, which involves motions and sometimes pom-poms, stunts, jumps or tumbling.
Coach: Person that instructs or teaches a performer, player or team.
Competitions: An event where squads come to test their skills against others and compete for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishes.
Execution: To perform a stunt or routine or the way in which it is performed. (The form, style, techniques & routine make up the execution).
Megaphone: A funnel shaped device used to amplify and direct your voice.
Motion: A set position of a Cheerleader's arms. Including: T, L, or K motions; hands on hips, diagonals, touchdowns, daggers, High V, Low V., and variations of them.
Peel Off / Ripple: When a squad is divided into two or more groups to do the same motion, skill or step at different times. Usually used to give a good visual effect.
Routine: A continuous show of talent in the squad by use of cheers, chants and dance steps. Can last from 2min. 30 sec. up to 4 min. depending on the time limits of the competitions or showcase.
‘Sell It': A term used when facials or attitude is exaggerated to make the cheer, motion or dance step have more appeal.
